Claire Attridge

She/Her

Claire is a PhD candidate exploring ecological processes in subtidal ecosystems. Formerly on the east coast of Canada, Claire's undergraduate research investigated the abiotic features that regulate the life history stages of an invasive, kelp-encrusting bryozoan. Now in British Columbia, her PhD work uses dive surveys, experimental manipulations, and spatial modelling, to explore how faunal and algal communities respond to variation in the habitat architecture of canopy kelp forests. In her continued research, Claire aspires to improve the ways that we monitor our coastlines, and to support collaborative, inclusive projects that consider diverse forms of knowledge. Claire lives on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh peoples, where, when she's not underwater, she is likely playing and listening to live music or running on her favorite trails.
